Embed a free construction calculator on your website
You can put any BuildersCalcs calculator on your own website for free. Copy the embed code below the calculator you want and paste it into your page. The code is an iframe plus a one-line credit link. The calculator runs from our server, so it keeps the same formulas, US and metric units, and sourced constants as the full page, and it updates when we update the calculator. The only condition is that the visible credit link stays in place under the widget.
How does the embed work?
Each calculator has a stripped-down page at /embed/<calculator-id>/. It has the form and the results, with no site menu, footer or ads. The embed code loads that page in an iframe, sized to the full width of your content column up to a readable maximum. Under the iframe is a short paragraph that names the calculator, links to its full page on BuildersCalcs and credits the site.
To add one:
- Find the calculator below and press Copy embed code.
- In your site editor, add an HTML block (in WordPress, a "Custom HTML" block; in Squarespace or Wix, an "Embed" or "Code" block).
- Paste the code and publish. No script tag, plugin or account is needed.

Which calculators can I embed?
Every calculator on the site can be embedded. They are grouped below by trade. The embed page for each one is listed at the address shown, so you can also build the iframe by hand. New calculators get an embed page automatically when they launch.
Concrete and area calculators
These are the most embedded ones on DIY and landscaping sites. The concrete calculator works out concrete volume and bag count for slabs, footings and round columns or post holes, in US or metric bags. The square footage calculator gives area in square feet or square metres for rectangles, L-shaped rooms, triangles and circles. The cubic yard calculator gives volume in cubic yards or cubic metres for any bulk material, from a rectangle, circle or triangle.
Masonry calculators
For bricklaying and hardscape sites: brick and concrete block counts for a wall, the mortar to lay them, and the blocks and base for a garden retaining wall.
Landscaping calculators
For garden and landscaping sites: gravel for paths and driveways, mulch for beds and tree rings, topsoil for lawns and raised beds, and pavers with their base for a patio.
Wall and ceiling calculators
For decorating and renovation sites: the paint calculator returns gallons or litres of paint from wall size, openings and coats. The drywall, wallpaper and insulation calculators cover the rest of the wall.
Flooring calculators
The tile calculator will count tiles and boxes with a waste allowance for the layout. The carpet, laminate, vinyl and hardwood calculators work the same way for their materials.
Roofing calculators
The roofing calculator turns a plan area and pitch into squares and bundles. The metal roofing calculator does the same for panel roofs, and the roof pitch calculator converts between rise and run, degrees and pitch factor.
Deck, fence and stair calculators
For outdoor and carpentry sites: decking boards, joists and screws; fence posts, rails and pickets; concrete for each post hole; and stair risers and treads checked against the code limits.
What are the terms of use?
The embed is free for any website: personal blogs, trade and supplier sites, school pages, commercial sites and sites that run ads. There is no fee, sign-up or traffic limit. In return we ask three things:
- Keep the credit link. The paragraph under the iframe must stay visible and keep its link to the calculator page on BuildersCalcs. Don't hide it with CSS, add
nofollowto it or move it to another page. - Don't change the results. Don't overlay, crop or rewrite the calculator's output, or present its numbers as your own estimate or quote. You can change the iframe height and width to fit your layout.
- Don't frame it as ours endorsing you. The widget calculates quantities. It doesn't recommend a product, supplier or contractor, and your page shouldn't suggest that it does.
We may remove access for a site that breaks these terms or uses the widget in a misleading way. If you need a version without the credit line, for example inside a paid app, ask through the contact page and we'll talk about it.
Is the embedded calculator accessible and mobile-friendly?
It is built the same way as the full calculator page. Every input has a visible label, required fields and limits are set on the form controls, and results are announced to screen readers when they update. It also works with a keyboard alone. The iframe has a title attribute naming the calculator, so screen reader users know what the frame contains.
The widget fills the width of its container up to a readable maximum and reflows to one column on a phone. The default height fits the longest calculator with its results open. If your page shows a scroll bar inside the frame, increase the height value. If it leaves a gap, reduce it. The iframe loads lazily, so it doesn't slow the top of your page.
The unit switch between US and metric is remembered in the visitor's browser where the browser allows it, and the calculator still works when it doesn't.
How do the results stay current?
The iframe always loads the live calculator from our server. When we correct a formula, update a constant from a new manufacturer data sheet or adopt a new code edition, every embedded copy changes at the same moment. Your copy of the code doesn't need to change. Each calculator carries a version number in its definition, and we raise it when a formula changes in a way that would change results.
Every constant in a calculator, such as a bag yield, a coverage rate or a code limit, comes from our sourced fact base. Nothing is a figure from our own testing. The full calculator page lists the sources, the formula and a worked example, and the credit link sends readers there. Would a printable chart suit my page better?
If your readers need a quick reference rather than a calculation, for example on a course handout or a supplier's help page, the printable concrete bag chart and the other PDF charts are free under CC BY 4.0. They can sit alongside an embedded calculator on the same page.
Questions about embedding a calculator
Does the embedded calculator track my visitors?
The embed page shows no ads and loads no third-party scripts. The only thing it stores is the visitor's choice of US or metric units, in their own browser. That stops it switching back on the next visit.
Can I embed more than one calculator on a page?
Yes. Paste each embed code separately. Each iframe loads only when it scrolls into view, so several on one page don't slow the first screen. Keep the credit line under each one.
Can I change the colours to match my site?
Not at the moment. The widget uses a neutral, high-contrast style that follows the visitor's light or dark mode setting. You can change the frame's width and height and add your own border or heading around it.
Will the embed code break if a calculator is updated?
No. The address of each embed page stays fixed while the calculator behind it is updated.
Does embedding the widget help or hurt my SEO?
The embed page is set to noindex and points search engines to our full calculator page, so it doesn't compete with your page or create duplicate content on your site. Your own text around the widget is what search engines read on your page.
